Peconic Partners’ hedge business took root over 20 years ago at our predecessor firm, Forstmann-Leff Associates.  Managed by Bill Harnisch from the late-70s, Bill and his investment team managed both long-only and hedge assets totaling over $5 billion.

In 1997, Bill and his partners sold the long-only business to a privately held financial services firm which was seeking to expand its asset management business.  Bill and his partners retained exclusive ownership of the hedge business while continuing to manage both the long-only and hedge fund business.  In December 2004, Bill and his team separated from Forstmann-Leff to focus exclusively on Peconic Partners and their hedge fund clients.
